Imperialism today doesn't seem like the conquest that resembled those the likes of Caesar and Alexander 2000 years ago but through layers of masks and controlling the weaker nations' economy.

For all it's worth, President Obama couldn't do anything anyway. He's just a puppet just as many other Presidents before him.
