Host of celebrities and socialites sashay the for Caring with Style
MANASI Y MASTAKAR Sunday night saw a lavish mix of celebs from the film fraternity, prominent industrialists and achievers from different walks of life – and in different shapes and sizes - walking down the r& for a cause in Shaina NC and Manish Malhotra creations. Around 70 achievers came together for Caring in Style, a fashion show, along with Shaina and Manish, teaming up for the first time in the last six years of the event to raise funds for the Cancer Patients Aids Association (CPAA). The ever- gorgeous Kajol graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Wowing the crowd were achievers like Vidya Malvade, Divya Dutta, Farah Aqeel Khan, Shweta Kawatra, Tisca Chopra, elegantly draped in sensuous Shaina NC saris. While Manish Malhotras versatile collection upped the oomph quotient on Sheetal Mafatlal, Riya Sen and others at this dazzling fashion do. The temperatures soared further when a few male achievers Ronit Roy, Sameer Dattani, Bikram Saluja, Manav Gohil walked the r&. But it was Vivek Oberoi, the CPAA Brand Ambassador, who set hearts fluttering as the showstopper. Also seen walking the r& were non celebs like, Leena Mogre, fitness expert, Darshan Hiranandani, builder and Abhishek Karnani from the Free Press Group.
Known for her colour co- ordinated and stylish appearances during the IPL, Nita Ambani turned up to cheer for her sister, Mamta Dalal, who looked stunning in a Manish Malhotra outfit. Also seen amidst the crowd was former Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, cheering his daughter Poorna Patel.
The woman behind the show, Shaina NC had reasons to be proud.
I am overwhelmed with the immeasurable support children suffering from cancer have got today. A heartfelt thank- you to Pidilite Industries and everyone who walked the r& to make a difference. Designer Manish Malhotra was also equivocal about his support to the kids suffering from Cancer. For six years the label has been primarily into Indian contemporary evening wear, this year weve have taken it upon ourselves to promote Indian traditional crafts such as Chikankari and Kashmiri. With a more responsible approach to the year it gives me immense pleasure to be part of this worthy cause which not only raises funds for children afflicted with cancer but also, celebrates fashion. The show has so far raised Rs 20 lakhs this year and the kitty is bound to grow further after the sale of the creations displayed on the r& exclusively available at Shaina and Manishs store.
Y. K. Sapru, Founder Chairman - Cancer Patients Aid Association, said that that blood cancer or Leukaemia in children is one of the biggest killers in India and added that 95% of Leukaemia patients cannot afford treatment. Sapru said that he was gratified at the support following the fashion show. Through this show we have raised funds to save the lives of several children suffering from blood cancer. We are very grateful to all the people who have come here to support CPAA and we would also like to thank Pidilite Industries for their commitment towards this cause over the years. Indeed, it was a small stroll down the r& for the achievers. But it was a giant step in alleviating the pain and suffering of Leukaemia affected children.
