"Viva La Revolution!" THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS Coming To UK First Time On BluRay

Argent Films launches its new HD Collection of Cinema Classics with the first ever UK Blu-ray release of one of the most acclaimed films of all time. Presented uncut and digitally remastered in HD from the original 35mm print, this release of The Battle Of Algiers also commemorates the 50th anniversary of Algerian independence.

The deserved winner of numerous awards, including a BAFTA UN Award and both the Golden Lion and the FIPRESCI Award at the 1966 Venice Film Festival, the film is a regular fixture in critics’ and filmmakers’ “Greatest Movies of All Time” lists and was also nominated for three Oscars, including Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film. An extremely powerful, deeply moving and often shocking cinematic experience, it’s an astonishing film that presents a poignant and admirably unbiased view of a tragic period in modern history. As powerful today as it was on its original release, it is, perhaps, even more relevant in today’s global political climate than ever before and makes for essential viewing.

Set during the 1954 to 1962 Franco-Algerian conflict, the film effectively and authentically recreates the pivotal political events that took place in the city of Algiers between 1954 and 1957.
In an attempt to end French colonialism, which had been in place since 1830, in 1954 the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN) began a war of liberation, using terrorism to highlight the plight of the Algerian people to the rest of the world. In response to the escalating terrorist violence in the city of Algiers, the French government sent in an armed force of paratroopers to crush the uprising. Authorised to use whatever force and methods were believed to be necessary in bringing an end to the revolution, the actions of the French military led to a regrettable catalogue of atrocities being committed by those on both sides of the conflict.

The Incredible Hulk XXX Porn Parody turns blue movies green

The famous all-green comic book superhero is bursting out of his clothes once again in the X-rated film based on the 60s television series.
The film, created by adult entertainment film house Vivid Entertainment, is called 'The Incredible Hulk: An XXX Porn Parody'.
It's the latest in a line of X-rated flicks from Vivid based on superheroes, others being Superman and Spiderman.
According to Vivid, they worked hard to make sure their film still had the feel of the old school TV programme, right down to the hairstyles and costumes.
The plot will also remain the same, with Dr Bruce Branner transformed into his alter ego after a mishap with a gamma radiation machine.

Actor Lee Stone, who plays the Hulk in his transformed green giant state, said that he is used to dressing up as weird creatures for raunchy flicks, having played demons and cyborgs in the past.
'Any time anyone does anything with prosthetics, they think of me,' he said.
However, producer Shylar Cobi says the prosthetics caused a problem during the more physical scenes.
'The make-up won't stand up to a BJ!' he quipped.

Vivid Entertainment say they plan to make similar steamy spoofs of The Green Hornet, Captain America and Thor.

Pregnancy can't be planned, but won't mind adopting says Jennifer Lopez

Mother to four-year-old twins Max and Emme, singer-actress Jennifer Lopez feels pregnancy is a gift from god and happens when it has to happen. But she says she also started considering adoption after working in her new film.

"I'm not opposed to it (pregnancy). It's a blessing, if something like that happens, it's only a blessing from god. And it's so funny, people think they plan these things, they don't, either you are going to have it because it's meant to happen or you're not," said the 42-year-old.

"And that's it, and you can't force it or push it or do anything. It's something from god, it's something that's destined," she added.

Lopez's forthcoming release is What To Expect When You're Expecting. In the film, she plays Holly who adopts twins from abroad after having difficulty conceiving.

"Before the movie, I never really thought about adoption at all. I was so focused on having my own and it took me a while to have my own. But after the film and during the making of the film, I held those two little twins and you fall in love instantly…It really occurred to me, I can see how somebody can do this. And I can definitely see myself doing this sometime," Lopez said in an e-mail interaction.

In real life, the Latino star gave birth to her twins in 2008 with now estranged husband Marc Anthony.

The new film, which will be released by Top Entertainment in India Friday, tells the tale of six couples experiencing the thrills and surprises of having a baby. It is based on a popular book on pregnancy by the same name. The book sold more than 14.5 million copies in 2011.

"What To Expect When You're Expecting" also features Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Dennis Quaid and Rodrigo Santoro.

Lopez admits she didn't have to prepare much for her role, thanks to her real-life experiences. "My babies were three at the time I was doing this movie and the memories of being pregnant were fresh in my head, and I didn't have to do something totally different, like the exact opposite of what I had experienced," she said.

"But when you hold the little Ethiopian twins you can really see how easy it is to love another child who is not yours and the entire experience was beautiful," she added.

Lopez said she wants to set a good example for her kids in real life. "I just feel like it's one thing you really want to get right in your life, you can mess up and make mistakes and do a lot of things. But when it comes to your kids you're like, 'I really don't want to mess this up, I really want them to be ok'," she said.

"I want them to be happy and loving and confident and all the things that make a great human being. To a certain extent as a parent we always do something that's gonna push them this way or that way. But this is the one thing I really want to get right," she added.

First look: Vidya Balan’s item song in 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'

Vidya Balan, who made the Dirty beautiful with her convincing portrayal of a siren in The Dirty Picture, is now seen jigging to a Lavani item song in the upcoming movie Ferrari Ki Sawaari.

Unlike the skimpily dressed Katrina Kaif in Chikni Chameli -- another Lavani number -- Vidya Balan is seen clad in a Maharashtrian sari from neck to ankles. In the first look that’s doing the rounds on the internet, Vidya Balan is seen sitting atop huge dhols.

The song is titled ‘Mala Jau De’ and it’s a traditional Lavani number.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra who gave Vidya Balan the break in Bollywood with his production Parineeta.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari is directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and stars Sharman Joshi in the lead role. The film has been in the making for a long time and is slated to release in April this year.

Nanditha Das in 'Neer Paravai'

Nanditha Das, after making a stunning presence in Kollywood with her impeccable performance in movies such as Thangar Bachchan's 'Azhagi' and Mani Ratnam's 'Kannathil Muthamittal', is on a comeback mode.
The pan-Indian actress, after nearly a decade, is currently part of a Tamil movie titled 'Neer Paravai'. Directed by National Award winning Seenu Ramasamy, the film is being produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies.
Giving details on the film and her role in it, Nanditha says, "I am doing the role of a fisher woman. Neer Paravai is an emotional story and the director himself was in tears while narrating a few scenes to me."
Along with the actress, her two-year-old scene is also seen on the sets of 'Neer Paravai'. "Yes, he needs my presence and attention always. So I am taking him wherever I go. He is going a whale of time, since the film is being shot in scenic coastal areas of Tamil Nadu," Nanditha says.

Singer Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias have prepared a new song to surprise their fans at an upcoming gig.
"We plan on doing some special things for the fans. We're actually working on this really good song, a new song right now," aceshowbiz.com quoted Lopez as saying.
"You have to train. Talking about going on six months of (touring), it's daunting, it's like whoa. It's exciting but it's still scary. Also, I've never done it before, so this will be my first time I've been on a world (tour)," she added.
The singer, who is busy preparing for musical festival, said: "There's a lot of dance rehearsal. We're revamping all the numbers so they feel fresh and new. We're doing all new arrangements for the songs - but not going too far away from the originals, because people go to see what they love so you don't want to change it too much."
For the choreography, Lopez is getting help from her dancer boyfriend Casper Smart.
"He's supervising choreographer and we're just working together to make the best show that we can make," she said.
The tour will be opened by Wisin and Yandel, who already have a duet song called "Follow the leader" with JLo.
Together with Enrique, they will kick off the music tour July 14 in Montreal and than travel to cities in North America till August.

Angelina Jolie hates her engagement ring

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie, who recently got engaged to partner Brad Pitt, reportedly hates her $ 500,000 sparkler.

The 36-year-old and Pitt, 48, confirmed their engagement news recently. Jeweler Robert Procop, who designed the bauble, first broke the news about couple's engagement.

Jolie was first seen wearing the sparkling diamond at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Chinese Galleries.

But Jolie took the band off for her recent meeting with the foreign minister of Ecuador and now Showbizspy reports that the actress is not very fond of the ring.

"She isn't fond of it. Nothing against Brad's design. She's just never been enamored of white diamonds. Emeralds are her favorite. The diamond shows how little he knows her. She's so demanding. She's acting like a bridezilla," a friend said.

The actress became romantically involved with Pitt, who was then married to Jennifer Aniston, after they worked together in Mr and Mrs Smith.

The Hollywood couple has three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, and three biological children, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.

Fat Aishwarya Rai Bachchan At Mukesh Ambani Party

Another day, another catty article in the Indian media about Aishwarya Rai’s weight. Aishwarya was snapped in an unflattering position in the backseat of a car (no, not that kind of unflattering position!) and the press took the opportunity to completely trash her for it. Her crime? Having a double chin! And not even a real double chin, just the kind you get when you pull your head back a bit. courtesy: Renee Shah & CELEBS
ish was on her way to the big bash thrown by Mukesh Ambani for U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon when the photo was taken. That photo–probably the most unflattering one of her in existence–has since made the front pages of not just entertainment websites but of major Indian (and overseas) newspapers.
Bollywood Life, in its usual “let’s fake concern to hide our inexcusable rudeness” attitude, ran the photo with the ridiculous headline “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s got a double chin!” and pretended to be worried that something was wrong with her for not being thin yet like “other” new mothers. (Makes you wonder what the article’s author looks like, doesn’t it? The weight-obsessed members of the gossip media don’t often have room to talk when it comes to the issue.)
Apparently, being a former beauty queen means one is never ever allowed to put on so much as a kilo–and if you do dare to gain weight at some point in your life you’ve implicitly given the media permission to be over the top rude about it.
So Aishwarya hasn’t lost all of her baby weight yet. Who cares? She obviously doesn’t. This song and dance about Aishwarya’s weight by the Indian media is getting old.

Vicky Donor collects 14 crores in its first week in India

Vicky Donor is the latest movie this year which has defied the megastar Box Office mania and emerged as a winner giving confidence to film makers to come up with interesting and fresh subjects. In its first week run the movie collected 14 crores in domestic box office leaving Housefull 2 behind which collected 12.45 crores during its third week in cinemas.
Vicky Donor is directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by actor John Abraham. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor in the lead roles. It was released on April 20, 2012 on around 750 screens in India, and received positive response worldwide. The movie is based on the concept of sperm donation and infertility.
Despite the usual trend, John Abraham did not take up the leading role in the film: "It was a conscious decision to not act in my first production because I believe producing a film is about creating quality content that I believe in." Director Sircar suggested Khurrana, a video jockey and television host, for the role of Vicky; he was considered because he was popular among the youth, and also because the role required an authentic Punjabi characterization.
Khurrana said, "I am from Chandigarh, my Punjabi is fluent. I can read and write in it too." Khurrana turned down three film projects to play the lead in Vicky Donor. To prepare for the role, he met several medical experts and donors to understand the concept of sperm donation; a major medical consultant specializing in the field was later inducted as a medical adviser for the film. Commenting on the lead's performance, Abraham said "I am glad I cast Ayushmann in the lead. He's a complete natural, has all the trappings of a fine actor and has delivered a super performance. It doesn't seem like Vicky Donor is his first film."
Earlier this year Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani managed to break the Box Office Jinx and proved that a movie can attract people to the theaters as well as win critical acclaim without big names. Both the movies are still running in cinemas, Kahaani in its 7th week collected 31,00,000 leading to a total domestic collection of 58 crores making it a Super Hit where as Paan Singh Tomar has made 14 crores to attain the status of Semi Box OfficeHit.
Hate Story which also released last week came third in terms of collection with a total of 9.6 crore domestic collection in its first week run. Housefull 2 which has become a Super Hit with 106 crores collection is still going strong in its third week, absense of any major releases has also helped these movies to a great extend to maintain their steady box office performance last week.

Sanjay Dutt unhappy with Sachin's MP nomination

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan Saturday expressed happiness at the recent nomination of actress Rekha and cricket legend Sachin Tendulakar to the Rajya Sabha, while Sanjay Dutt was unhappy with Sachin becoming a parliamentarian.
"In each session of parliament, the president nominates few set of people for the Rajya Sabha from the fields of art, cinema etc. It is a very honourable position. Sunil Dutt's wife Nargis was also nominated. Whoever are nominated for this (Rajya Sabha) are deserving people," Amitabh told reporters at a press conference here.
Asked if being a Rajya Sabha member puts a burden on cricket and film personalities, he said: "It is their personal decision. Leave it to them."
Meanwhile, Dutt, who terms himself to be a big fan of Tendulkar, is unhappy with him being a member of the Rajya Sabha.
"It is an honour to be in the Rajya sabha. I am a fan of Sachin. He is the pride and jewel of India. But, I am not happy that he is a Rajya Sabha member. He should have been the way he is," he said.

Kingfisher airlines Airhostess Siddhi Photoshoot

Another new fresh face is getting ready to make her debut in Tollywood. The girl is Siddhi. She is working as an airhostess with the Kingfisher airlines.Siddhi is a friend of Kittu, son of producer ML Kumar Choudhary . Siddhu and Kittu became good friends when they did an acting course at a big institute in Mumbai.Siddhu is good looking and she has the stamp of approval from none other than the one and only Vijay Mallya. Mallya liked Siddhu immensely and he immediately offered her a job as airhostess in his Kingfisher airlines. Looks like Siddhu is now set to soar even higher in her new avatar as a Tollywood heroine. Very soon this bubbly fair girl can be seen on silver screen. If she clicks well, that will be an additional benefit for Mallya, as people refer to her as 'KF Airhostess'. With the Telugu industry becoming the haven for many aspiring artistes, especially the pretty girls it has become evident that even those who are in the north are longing to come and work in Tollywood. Earlier, it was the models who made their presence felt but now even those beauties from other fields are also entering.
