Review: 3 Idiots

Verdict: Good.."All izz well"
"K" Rating: 4 / 5
Watch: Theater/DVD

3-idiots is the most awaited and hyped Aamir film of the year which accounts for the house full openings. This is a college movie portraying the life of 3 engineering students, their fear anxiety and triaumphs in a competitive enviornment. The movie takes us on a fascinating journey of 2 clumsy, funny idiots- Farhan(R.Madhavan) & Raju (Sherman Joshi) in search of their long lost buddy Rancho(Aamir Khan) with flash backs on their college days. Aamir, Kareena and Boman are fantastic in the film but Sherman Joshi is the surprise package in terms of stellar performance.Together they mesmerize the audience with their stupendous performance leaving the house in splits of laughter. This college flick is a must watch for the youth.

The Story of 3 Idiots touches on student suicides, parental obsession on engineering and medical professions and engineering colleges producing cookie cutter students who are not taught to think out of the box.
"Education is not about success but about pursuing excellence & passion, and in doing so success shall chase you" -this dialogue has been exemplified beautifully in the last scene with the backdrop of breath taking Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The title "3-Idiots" not only accounts for the adventures of 3 friends but also the "I'll do It On my Terms" philosophy they imbibe.Music of the 3 idiots is already a hit on the charts "Give me some sunshine" is great and "All Izz Well" will be the new anthem of students after Munna Bhai's "Jadu ki Jhappi"

The birthing scene towards the end with Mona Singh is very filmy and adds unnecessary drama. Tinkle jokes throught the movie were boorish, repetitive and pee-bit much!(anyone remember similar scenes from Rajkumar Hiran's Munna Bhai series?). These extraneous sequences prove to be speed bumps of an otherwise fun, good, hit movie. Seems like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani and Aamir have done it again!
........This review comes not only from a movie buff/critic but also an engineer.
