Music publisher sees great opportunity in next GTA game.
Grand Theft Auto 5 could include music tracks that EMI publishing considers "hidden gems" from its huge musi back-catalogue.
Rockstar has traditionally combined contemporary, classic and older, less popular tracks on Grand Theft Auto's radio stations over the years, with music choices specifically reflecting the era for Vice City and San Andreas.
"Over the years, the Grand theft Auto series has provided EMI Music Publishing with a unique opportunity to get sync placements for some hidden gems in our catalogue that otherwise may not have landed in the world of video games," EMI’s VP of music resources Rod Kotler told Music Weekly.
"We look forward to working with Rockstar Games on future versions of this fantastic series and to continuing to deliver value to our songwriters in this regard."
GTA 5 is set in a contemporary California, meaning there's potential scope to include any music tracks Rockstar sees fit - regardless of era.
So far it's included just the one piece of music - prog-rock track Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake by The Small Faces.
GTA 3 and Vice City's soundtracks could be back soon with both games in the frame for a PS3 re-release some time soon.
