My dear Uncle

As you know, and I assume you already know by now, I took computer science as my field of study when I was at the University. Although it's not my favourite, but I had fun learning the field and it has indeed help me to understand more about network security, programming languages such as Cobol, Java, C, C++ and a few others.

But I am saddened by the fact that some, and even disappointing to say that my uncles and aunties, think of my course is for the lesser people and compare my field with Engineering, for instance, like the sky and the earth. 

I would like to just point this message to one of them. 


"My dear Uncle, 
I would like you, one of these days, to do what I do if you think it's very easy and simple. That only the stupid, fools and weak people take this subject. My dear Uncle, the world today is filled with programming. Just because I'm not working for Shell like you do doesn't mean I don't know that Shell is utilizing programming heavily.


So please, my dear Uncle, stop making a fool out of yourself. Did you know that Engineering require programming too? Have you ever thought of that? I guess not due to your ignorance on the subject matter.

A letter to fellow Sarawakians on Gawai Day

Today is the Dayak's Gawai Day actually, the 1st of June. It's actually a harvest festival, for those who are still in the dark about what Gawai really is.However, this year I couldn't make it home due to work commitment but I'd love to write something on behalf of today.

I am a little bit unfortunate to have never experienced gawai as it is supposed to be where all those rituals and many other things involved, in my entire life. I heard my cousins and friends back at their hometowns celebrated it so damn fun, and this has never failed to make me feel jealous!

But of course, it pretty sums up the point of my writing today, which is towards the contributions that my fellow young Dayaks and I could do to rectify this on-going problem of brain drain which does not only affect the development of state but the celebration of Gawai itself.

When I went to my longhouse during Gawai, there were not many people and many of the families that used to be there when I was younger have moved or did not return home.

For the past a decade, I couldn't really feel the festival is being celebrated as I would've loved to see as the families that used to stay in the long house have dwindled in numbers and this got me thinking, is because of migration and lack of economic opportunities there?

How misleading indeed when Sarawak itself is rich with natural resources and many undeveloped lands still waiting to be explored and filled with roads, buildings, neighborhoods, shopping malls, parks etc.

If truth be told, I cannot speak too much on this matter because pointing this out would make me a clear-cut hypocrite considering I am still here working in Kuala Lumpur while writing this article pointing out that my hometown is rich with opportunities?

To make things clear, I never intended to stay here for too long in Kuala Lumpur and in a couple of years time, I do want to return home, in helping out the development there. I seriously hope to see more aggressive growths taking place but in order to accomplish that, the state itself need its best human capital out there, wherever you are.

But, what can we, particular the young ones, do to contribute when we're far from home? I discussed this matter with one of my friends the other day during lunch, coming up with various initiatives to gather up the sarawakian youths here in Peninsular and coming up with an action plan entitled, let's go home.

This is not in any way, asking you to leave your jobs and schools at this moment, today. But let's plan out, carve out the directions in a few years time which give you an ample of time to identify another job or business opportunities back home in Sarawak.

The Kuala Lumpur city is packed with people and growths are positive, so let's put it into a balance and spread the growth elsewhere too. If we are too achieve the things we have dreamed of in our vision 2020, the balance must exist and it cannot be ignored.

So, the let's go home plan is essentially an idea to highlight and share the various opportunities that exist back home and I want to be part of this as well. This rings true even for other young Malaysians abroad, please come home and return to your respective states and contribute in the growth of your homes. They seriously in dire need of you and without you, they cannot grow.

let's go home plan is an idea, of asking all Malaysians to return to their homes and contribute. Let's give it a 5 - 10 years time frame. Even more so, we have 9 more years to go before 2020, right?

keep moving forward

I was watching "meet the robinsons" yesterday night after I got back from work. These days, I made it a point to cook at home and reduce the eating sessions outside. I find it much healthier, 'cause by then I'd know how much sugar, salt, sos tiram (oyster sauce :D ) and many other things that I put inside the foods that i cook.

you can be surprised how unhealthy it is to eat outside because most of the time, restaurants cook in large quantity, so the amount of ingredients that I've just mentioned above are probably more than we need.

Anyway, back to the Robinsons! So this year wasn't that smooth for me, you know, there lots of ups and downs. Betrayed, things didn't work out the way we planned, doubted myself, losing faith, boy oh boy, all of these things really made the world roll furiously sometimes.

but when i watched the cartoon "meet the robinsons", it helped. one way or another, sometimes we have to go back to basic to remind ourselves that not everything is a failure,but what's important is to accept the failures and keep moving forward!

not everything is beautiful, that i can tell you but it is how we spring forward is actually the most important thing. and you must understand that, at times we will feel so alone and no one understand us, but everyone else but us can only be there to console and give motivational words- however, it is us, ourselves that can determine whether we will stay grieving or, you know, just keep moving forward.

it's not simple to do,but very easy to say. im just sharing this out of experience and i know, if you believe enough in yourself, nothing can stop you.and i mean, literally, nothing. :)

the leap of faith

why do we chase after something which doesn't have something concrete?
why do we do something which is yet to have a concrete future?
why do chase after a girl who you know will be impossible to be with?
why do we end up a relationship, believing that we will move on to better things?
why do we start something new when we know it will be outright failure?

or do we?

this is what we call, the leap of faith.

A leap of faith, in its most commonly used meaning, is the act of believing in or accepting something intangible or unprovable, or without empirical evidence.

we jump to these decisions.sometimes, we make stupid decisions.sometimes when we are lucky,we make the right ones. but most of the times,we will never be sure whether we are making the right moves but you know,you just have got to have the faith that everything will turn out fine...eventually.

dear friends,
most importantly,we do have fun right,going through this journey of life,don't we?Isn't it great that we are given the chance to make these mistakes,the chance to be grateful that we made the right ones for a change?

And lads,you know,sometimes the right decisions will evolve into something wrong and then it will be back into the right ones! it will create a cycle of itself.yeah?
and sometimes,the wrong decisions will evolve into right ones and then it will move back into the wrong ones.

but you know what,lads,just hold on to your faith,just for a little while longer and see it evolve back.eventually,you will be pretty confident that everything will turn out,just fine baby.just fine.

Morning Talk: the lies & truth

Have you ever asked a young fella,let's say he's 12 years old,"what do you want to be when you're grown up?" A doctor!

Have you ever asked our friends,what do they want most in life 10 years from now? vary but let's take a standard answer, "I want to be married and have honeymoon in Shanghai!"

Have you ever asked a worker at the bank, what does he sees himself 5 years down the road?"The bank manager!"

I began this post with these three questions to point out,in every stage of our lives,there are always something that we chase,chasing after something that we do not have and sometimes,neglected the things we already have.

Thus,this is the reason why we must always be careful,in our pursuit of our dreams and ambitions,don't forget the ones we have-the ones that are important to us.


I've read a book,written by the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad once before; that everything that you see yourself as are lies because they haven't occurred yet.Do you get what I mean?Meaning,if you see yourself as the rich man you want to be in the next 20 years,then that's a lie simply because it hasn't happened yet.And this applies to every other thing you think of yourself.

What about that?

Don't be scared to be ambitious.Just bear in mind that if you have set it clearly what you want in life,do something about it-starting from now! Time is precious and maybe,if you're young and full of fun,you don't feel it yet.But think for a moment: it's short and who knows what might happen tomorrow and the day after that?Nobody knows.How cliche' this might sound but don't waste your time.

When you're young and energetic-you feel you can run for hundreds of kilometers and still not tired,actually this is the perfect time for you to work hard for the sake of your next 20,30 to 50 years of your lives. Don't spoil those years for the few years you have now.

The lies are your dreams and ambitions.

But the truth?

Is who you are now and in the past.

The life of an entrepreneur is not easy,to tell you the truth.There's nothing to hide about that-as much as some who would smugly claim that you can earn money while in your night clothes and still have the time to hang out every night with their friends, I firmly say,they are lying.Maybe there are but only a few.

But I must be frank with you,the life of an entrepreneur, is indeed, not easy.It's hard and it requires pure determination and strong will for you to succeed in this field. Sometimes I hear, when there are a few who wish to try out business and failed. Who did they put the blame on? The products. Now, I must say they are wrong. A true businessman is a salesman. Regardless of whatever product you have to sell,it's not about the product.It's about selling and it's your responsibility to make sure people buy your products.

And I must also add in that, there will be times,or most of the time,you will feel alone in your journey towards success. Yes, I don't deny that because not many who were you close friends before, would stick with you through the thick and thin of the journey.No.But don't worry,always constantly motivate yourself that what you're doing is for yourself,your loved ones and your reason for being alive in this life. The faster you discover your reason for existing,the sooner it is you will work harder to achieve your life goals.

As for me, I'm doing it for my family, for my loved ones, for my own family later so that I can give a proper life to my children and wife as well as leaving behind a legacy they can be proud of- to inspire people towards success.Remember this, that whenever you feel alone, reflect these words over and over again.

You will feel like giving up, losing hope and there will be people around you who will try to demotivate you but keep on fighting.The fight does not stop until you say so,remember that. Set out your goals as clearly as possible. After you're done with that, figure out how you're going to achieve them. Draft out a proper planning,step by step. Eventhough life is known to be full with surprises and your planning might not seem relevant,a proper planning is important to ensure you don't get lost along the way.

For example, myself. I've always wanted to pursue the food industry business-opening up fast food restaurants, opening up factories to process the foods,logistics business and the list goes on. But who would've thought that now I'm in charge of leading a leech-based company? And although I'm in this industry at the moment, that doesn't mean I will not pursue the food business. In fact, this is good for me as well as it can provide me with the right experience - to lead a company and the people in it. Build up your experience.

Apart from that, there are some who claimed that I'm lucky.I'm lucky to have met my partners in the leech company, I'm lucky to have entered University of Malaya at the first place and I'm lucky because I was elected as the President of SIFE of my university. I'm sorry,but I beg to differ.

I believe, through constant hard work and the spirit of never give up helped me getting here. I'd take it as a compliment when people say I'm lucky.Thank you.But if you constantly pursuing what you love doing,never falter and keep on going forward towards your dreams, that you would automatically become a magnet to success.Believe me,this always works.

The role model

In every field that we have decided to pursue, we have someone that we look up to,that we want to take as example.As for me,it's Donald Trump.



He might not be the best in the field,not the riches (?) but what I like most of this man here is that he has his own TV show which is so cool, he teaches me (through his show) to be firm with every decision made and be strict with standards.

And I have long been interested with real estate development,so the field he is in just interest me even more.I've read a few of his books already,which is quite cool.

So,why not,no?Donald Trump all the way.

It's not about the color of skin.where you come from.how old are you.
but as long as you're willing to go to the extra mile and show to those who doubt what you're capable of,then nothing is impossible.

By saying this,I'm not saying I'm pro-government,but I find it's not right when we blame the way government favors the bumiputra in this country.However you may see it,as long,as long as you don't give up,persistent in what you're doing, then it should be fine.

When we are denied of our rights,then think of other ways to fight for our rights.Don't sit there,whine and blame the world you're miserable and failed.

The year 2010 has been such a blessing for me.But I still have a long way to go ahead,yes I do. However, up to this point,it did not come easy.It never has. Perhaps luck played its part.But I never really believe in luck.It may have,however it really comes down to ourselves in most parts.

When we decide to accept challenges that put a test on us seemingly impossible to achieve, that's a really good step forward indeed.It's like walking in the mud with your slippers.Keep on walking,even though we might get deeper and deeper the more we move,but in the end,we'll reach the dry land,won't we?

And most importantly,never let anyone crushes your dream so easily.Fight for what you believe.The moment you start listening to others who only love to see you fail,that's actually the moment you start raising your white flag.

Just a thought.

The 5 am wake up call!

Tick tock...the time shows 5 am on my laptop and I still couldn't sleep.I have to finish some paperworks that I need to present in front of the other partners this Saturday.

The budget and some other proposals.

And then I thought, I need to take a break and go for some blogging. Maybe it'll help me to get some ideas.'bin stuck with the right words to use for all of these write-up's.

And then,I'd like to share something as well- you know,after the competition,I've lost a certain amount of motivations completing my works.Most of the times,I've motivated myself with money.The ability to be financially free...but it's not working anymore.I guess,I need to find another motivation,a stronger one that could help me move forward much faster.And I mean,seriously!

At the moment,I'm stuck as to what to write anymore.

Why An Entrepreneur's Thoughts ?

I love going to the bookstores, spend a few hours just to read the books there for free. And most of the time, if I'm not off to the Harry Potter section, I'll spend most of the time at the business section. Reading about the lives of the entrepreneurs, that created giant corporations of today and yesterdays are just so inspiring.

(his journey was tough.But through hard works and perseverance, he made it eventually)

I've always felt so jealous to experience that same kind of journey.Off from startups as a small enterprise and slowly, building the company to become a giant in the future.

So, when the chance was finally offered to me, I refused to decline. Instead, I felt great hope-this could be the trigger to my dreams. I was finally living my dreams. As time goes on, I've realised I'm spending less and less with my friends and more time at the office in my university. Sometimes, I stayed at the office for 3 days, only to go back to my hostel just to shower.

And then, it dawned on me that i have to play it smart, but work hard nonetheless.I must prioritize the things in my life. Do I want to suffer now or later?It's as simple as that. Sometimes, we are envious of our friends who have money to buy cars, wear expensive clothes and off to the shopping malls to shop. It's as simple as that actually.

Do you want to suffer now or later?It all comes down to you.

So,I've decided to work really hard now, although sometimes I'm really exhausted but I know,in the end, my hard works will be fruitful.Slowly, the money will come. It's faith. You've got to believe in your guts that the money will come eventually.

Ideas.

Ideas would always come. People have brilliant business ideas all the time. But it takes pure hard work, willingness to strive forward when things get hard, and sacrifice by leaving your comfort zone. That's how to survive in this field. Only the fittest survive.

But of course, if there are people who want to be part of the survival game, however keep on falling down,we help them and together, we run forward. No matter how long it takes.

An entrepreneur's thoughts is a place for me to share my journey with you.I want this to be the place where I can see the developments that I have made, for future reference.

Other than that, I intend to use this blog as well, to help people who have interest in becoming entrepreneurs as well. I'm sure there are ways we can figure out together.
